Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent by email may be retained so our team can answer them. We do not disclose those messages outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Pages opened and the length of each visit
- Operating system and device category
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Routing a query to the selected outside search provider
- Understanding which material visitors use
- Selecting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site neither maintains nor sells a database of personal criminal records. Its general reference material points to the Tooele County Sheriff's Office, Utah Courts, the Utah Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex and Kidnap Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that company's privacy policy, including its retention and disclosure rules. Review the provider's terms before running a query because we do not control those practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-service, and independent-search websites. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Check that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to observe activity across websites and select interest-based advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be available to these limited recipients:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor's location. Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, governs access to records held by Utah government entities, while Utah Code § 53-10-108 controls dissemination of BCI criminal-history data. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record custodian. For information held directly by us, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date.
